Benny The Cab Ride: Never Built Disney Studios

Never Built Disney Studios

Roger Rabbit Car Toon Spin Station Disneyland

Roger Rabbit's Hollywood was set to be one of the first major expansions of Disney MGM Studios, bringing various attractions to the park based on the hit film Who Framed Roger Rabbit. One of the rides from this failed concept would end up being developed into an actually built ride in another Disney Park.

The land was set to be located in the fictionalized version of Hollywood presented in the film, with various rides inspired by moments in the film, taking you to locations from Toontown to the set of the latest toon film. But one of the major rides would have taken you on a high energy journey through the streets of this world on the back of Benny the Cab from the movie.

This ride was set to be a dark ride featuring iconic locations from the movie, and following the cancelation of the land in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, this was the only attraction concept that was saved and turned into an actual attraction.

As Mickey's Toontown was being developed for Disneyland, also based primarily based on Roger Rabbit, the Benny ride was revisited for the land's main attraction.

In this new form, the ride would really be a combination of the Benny ride mashed together with the storyline of the Trolley attraction from Roger Rabbit's Hollywood.

Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin opened in Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland as the only ride ever built based on Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and it owes its existence to an earlier more elaborate proposed attraction for Disney MGM Studios.

Thanks for exploring this ride with us and be sure to check out the rest of the Never Built Disney Studios series so far here. Be sure to come back next week when we explore the never built Sunset Boulevard Trolley.
