What Film Would Best Fit In Each World Showcase Country in Epcot?

Epcot's World Showcase is beginning to add more characters to the country, and I am assuming that this trend is only going to continue in the coming years. So I am going to speculate on what the best film to add would be for each currently existing Epcot country at Walt Disney World.

This was written in the summer of 2021, so it only includes films up until Luca. If a country already has a film then I will determine if it is the best fit.

I am going to be starting with Mexico and continue clockwise around the World Showcase, not including any of the temporary or smaller pavilions, only permanent full countries.

Mexico

I love the Three Caballeros, but they are not the best fit for the Mexico Pavilion. For starters, only one of them (Panchito) is actually from Mexico. Beyond that, there is just another film that is such a natural fit for the pavilion.

Coco was perfectly adapted from Mexican culture, and even fits the general aesthetic of the pavilion perfectly. This would just be such a natural fit for the pavilion that it deserves a more permanent place in this pavilion.

Norway

While I am still of the belief that Frozen is not the best fit for the Norway Pavilion, there is really nothing that would fit in here better. No other film takes place in this region of the world, and even then, nothing could really compete with the popularity of Frozen.

China

Mulan would be a natural fit for the China Pavilion. As a Chinese Disney Princess with multiple films under her belt all inspired by various elements of Chinese folklore and culture, she is the only natural choice for incorporating characters into the pavilion.

A ride or show based on the character would fit naturally in this pavilion if done well without feeling the least bit out of place.

Germany

If Disney were to fit a film into the Germany Pavilion, I think the best choice would be Snow White. As a classic Grimm fairytale, Disney could easily lean more into the exclusively German elements of their version of the character and fit a ride into the pavilion that would fit in well.

While the ride would likely not be a perfect fit, similar to Frozen, it would still work to some extent, and there is not anything else that would fit here.

Italy

Italy Pavilion Epcot Walt Disney World

There are two films that I think would fit well into the Italian Pavilion about equally well, so I'm going to talk about both.

The first is the classic Pinocchio. Taking place in Italy it would be a perfect place for a Pinocchio ride. The preexisting Pinocchio's Daring Journey would pretty much fit perfectly in the land with a new facade and provide the land with a classic style dark ride.

Luca would also be another option that would fit well in the pavilion. The aesthetics of the film closely match the area itself and would be a perfect addition to the land. It's a fun story that pays tribute to Italian culture and would be a nice fit for the land.

The American Adventure

At the moment the most major film found in the American Adventure is Soul, which is found in an exhibit in the building, and it is probably one of the best fits for the pavilion, showcasing an element of modern-day American culture.

While many Disney films take place in the US, few display the culture of the US, and with the exception of Soul, the only major film that might work in the land would be Pocahontas. As a Native American Disney Princess, she would be an ok fit in the pavilion, despite the many historical inaccuracies in her film.

Japan

There is really only one Disney film that takes place in Japan, Big Hero 6, and while not a perfect fit, it would work better than any other film. This is probably the worst fit on the entire list, but a smaller attraction designed to fit the general design of more classical Japan as opposed to the modern San Fransokyo might work in the land.

Morocco

There are no Disney films that take place in Morocco or anywhere in that area, but Disney has decided that the land is home to Aladdin characters in Epcot, so that would assumably be the best film for the pavilion. Any attraction could potentially use the same backstory as when the characters appear in the land, a royal visit from Agrabah.

France

Ratatouille is just a perfect fit for the France Pavilion at Epcot. The film features beautiful visuals of Paris, the city where the France Pavilion is set, and visually fits into the land perfectly. As a tribute to French food it is a film that easily can be seen as a part of the World Showcasing paying tribute to a part of French culture.

United Kingdom

The United Kingdom Pavilion has a lot of films to choose from, potentially more than any other country. Brave, 101 Dalmations, Alice In Wonderland, Peter Pan, and more. All of these would be amazing fits in the land for smaller attractions.

But the easiest choice would probably be Mary Poppins. This film is one of the biggest Disney films to never have an attraction in the parks, and it was supposed to have one in this pavilion before it was "indefinitely delayed" (canceled) due to the effects of the COVID19 Pandemic.

Cherry Tree Lane from the film looks like it would fit perfectly as an additional street in the land, and with the film being based on classic children's books from the country, it would be a natural fit in a land that celebrates the culture of the nation.

Canada

The Mill Stage Canada Pavilion World Showcase Epcot Disney World

There is really only one film that would work in the Canada Pavilion, Disney's Brother Bear. While it takes place in Alaska, it is based on the culture of tribes that populated the entire northern region of North America, and several members of the cast were famous Canadian actors.

This film perfectly fits the Canadian wilderness and its characters could have easily crossed the border into a different part of the north. Not a perfect fit, but the closest Disney has.
