Extinct Amusement Park Tribute
Six Flags parks are filled with characters, but some characters do not stand the test of time in the parks. In the mid-2000s, Six Flags invested in more characters, but at the end of the decade, they decided to abandon all of their intellectual property rights except DC superheroes and Looney Tunes.
In the process, one of the character groups that were removed from the park were the characters of Thomas The Tank Engine, so today we are looking back at the short history of the Thomas The Tank Engine ride at Six Flags New England.
Six Flags added a railroad-style ride to the park based on this franchise, where you rode on Thomas around sets based on the series.
The main sight you would come across was a roundhouse holding several of the other iconic trains from the series, and you would go around a figure 8 style layout.
This was a ride with much more theming than the average Six Flags ride, featuring quite extensive sets for an attraction at the park.
Unfortunately, the ride would be extremely short-lived, only operating between 2007 and 2010, when Six Flags gave up the rights to Thomas characters.
While the ride system would survive, becoming the New England Express, the theming would not, and all references to Thomas were removed, never to return.
