Universal Studios Hollywood has featured a variety of different movie sets over the years from all-time classic movie locations, to sets used in different ways in dozens or more films throughout the decades of history of the lot.
But prior to the pandemic, there was one spot that continually brought you to Christmas time at all times of the year. That was the set from the 2000 film adaptation of How The Grinch Stole Christmas starring Jim Carey.
A small section of the town of Whoville still exists alongside the studio tram tour route, dressed up year-round for the holiday season, and filled with props that were used in filming the classic Christmas movie.
This set was also located in a somewhat strange location, next to one of the biggest icons from the horror of all time, Bates Motel. You could even see the tops of the buildings from behind the motel roof.
This set would even be lit up at night to accent the Christmas lights that adorn the facades of the set.
Unfortunately due to the constantly changing nature of the Universal studio lot, not everything remains preserved forever, and it looks like this set was demolished during the park's closure during the 2020 COVID19 pandemic. We at least get to remember its roughly twenty years of history on the lot, celebrating Christmas year-round.
