Grizzly Peak River Run is an opening day attraction at Disney California Adventure taking you on a rapids ride through a fictional national park.
Here are 10 fun facts about the classic ride at the Disneyland Resort.
1. Gold Rush
Parts of the ride are themed based on the California gold rush, involving relics from the fictional Eureka Gold and Timber company scattered throughout the ride.
2. Spinning
The final drop is designed to cause large amounts of spinning, adding to the thrill factor and the splashdown.
3. Woodlore
Recently Disney character J Audubon Woodlore took over the queue safety spiel.
4. Geysers
The final scene of the ride features several geysers that can go off.
5. Basis
This ride is based on real national parks within the state of California, specifically the redwood forest.
6. Pelton Wheel
The lift hill of the ride features a classic Pelton wheel that was used to generate power from running water.
7. Storing the Water
The water for this ride is stored in the water features of Pacific Wharf during refurbishments.
8. Grizzly Peak
Grizzly River Run is located alongside and inside Grizzly Peak, the bear-shaped mountain located in the center of Disney California Adventure.
9. Nature Walk
Underneath the attraction, you can find a peaceful walk through a Disney recreation of a natural wonderland.
10. Expanded Land
On opening day you could only find one ride in Grizzly Peak, but this land expanded to also include the former Condor Flats.
