Disney has created a variety of play areas for young children over the years, but few as intensely themed as Pooh's Playful Spot.
Located in the former location of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, this was a small play area recreating a section of the 100 Acre Woods.
Located just outside The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh attraction, it was the perfect fit for its location, and was one of the best-themed sections of the Fantasyland section of the Magic Kingdom at the time.
The area surrounding the play area is filled with various signs and props that would fit right in among Pooh and his friends.
Some of these signs point towards locations you could actually find within the section, including various trees and houses of Pooh characters.
Other signs are merely messages left by the characters you could explore.
This incredily themed area held various slides and houses for small children to explore, all made of logs, crates, and other items you could imagine finding inside the land of Christopher Robin's childhood days.
The biggest building in the land for kids to explore was the home of Winnie the Pooh himself, under the name of Mr. Sanders.
This play area operated for only five years at the Magic Kingdom, a relatively small life for any attraction.
It would be torn down to be replaced by Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as a part of the New Fantasyland expansion of the Magic Kingdom.
While it no longer exists, it helped inspire the current entrance facade of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and was one of the first examples of the immersive new style of Fantasyland that would become the norm with additions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Journey of the Little Mermaid.
