Mr. Toads Wild Ride is a classic opening day attraction dark ride located in Fantasyland in Disneyland. Based on the classic Disney animated film based on The Wind in the Willows, it sees you go on a crazy journey alongside Mr. Toad.
In tribute to the attraction, we are sharing 10 fun facts about the classic Disneyland ride.
1. Stacked Dark Ride
This ride is partially built below the neighboring Alice In Wonderland dark ride, and if you listen closely, you can even hear some of its music leaking into the ride on rare occasions or during ride breakdowns.
2. Redesign
While the ride has been in the park since opening day, it was completely redesigned in 1983 alongside the rest of Disneyland's Fantasyland.
3. Exclusive Ending
The ending of this attraction is different than other versions of the story in that it does not have a happy ending, instead with you following Mr. Toad going to hell (literally).
4. Heated Room
The hell scene features heating to make it truly feel like you have descended to the underworld.
5. Magic Kingdom Version
A second version of this attraction opened along with the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. This version featured two dueling tracks, and was eventually replaced by The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh.
6. Car Names
Each of the ride vehicles is named after one of the characters from the film.
7. Queue Mural
This ride features an elaborate mural in the queue line that hints at key moments in the storyline of the attraction.
8. Halloween Cars
One of the attractions ride vehicles was reutilized as a Halloween decoration in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure.
9. Paris
Toad Hall is also recreated in one other Disney Park, Disneyland Paris. Although there it is a restaurant, not a ride-through attraction.
10. Coat of Arms
The inscription on Toad's coat of arms reads "speeding with Toad is always absurd".
