10 Facts and Secrets About The Little Mermaid Ariel's Undersea Adventure Disney California Adventure
The Little Mermaid, Ariel's Undersea Adventure is one of the most elaborately themed rides at Disney California Adventure, taking you through the entire story of Disney's classic animated film The Little Mermaid.
In celebration of the modern classic ride, we are sharing 10 secrets and facts about this great attraction at the Disneyland Resort.
1. Second Little Mermaid Ride
This was actually the second Little Mermaid attraction to be located at Disney California Adventure, after King Triton's Carousel of the Sea.
2. Ariel's Hair
Ariel's hair has been replaced since the ride first opened to make it look more realistic.
3. Black Light
The Under The Sea sequence features blacklight elements.
4. Scuttle's Perspective
The ride is told from Scuttle's perspective, with it both beginning and ending with animatronics of him narrating Ariel's story.
5. Final Battle
The final battle between the heroes and Ursula is referenced with a cutout in the background of one of the final scenes.
6. Replaced Water
The water shooting up in the Kiss The Girl scene was replaced due to complaints it looked inappropriate in a Disney Park.
7. Aquarium
This version of the ride is set inside a massive aquarium, allowing it to fit in its original Paradise Pier setting.
8. Original Recordings
Many scenes use the original recorded versions of the songs from the animated film, including Ariel and Ursula's songs.
9. New Recordings
The ride also features new versions of many songs, most notably for Sebastian.
10. Original Concept
This ride is based on a concept developed much earlier for multiple international Disney Parks. In the original version, it would have been a suspended dark ride, not an omnimover attraction.
