Disney's Hollywood Studios for most of its existence was based on showcasing the behind-the-scenes aspects of movie-making. This involved a variety of attractions recreating effects and the movie-making experience as well as actual elements of movie-making.
One of the best real-life elements of the original vision of Disney's Hollywood Studios was the AFI Showcase.
The AFI Showcase was a museum-style display that featured a series of movie props from films ranging through all of pop culture even beyond Disney.
This display was found in the exit building for the Studio Backlot Tour of the park and served as the perfect ending for the tour, adding some real-life film props to the part of the park most tied into real-life filmmaking.
Many of the films featured in this section, while not originally Disney films, have since become a part of the larger Disney canon when Disney bought 20th Century Fox.
This would not fit well in today's Disney's Hollywood Studios, but it was a perfect fit for the park at the time it existed. It remains a wonderful part of the history of this park at Walt Disney World.
