Extinct Disney Parks Tribute
Festival of the Lion King is one of the best shows at Disney's Animal Kingdom, featuring an African inspired performance of songs from the classic Disney animated film The Lion King, featuring many of the characters from the film as well as live singers.
This show started its life in the meant to be temporary land Camp Minnie Mickey, where it was meant to headline the land for however long it lasted in the park.
But it ended up exceeding expectations for popularity, becoming one of the most popular parts of the entire Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. This all for a show that was put together utilizing mostly reused elements from old parades.
Camp Minnie Mickey likely lasted longer as a result of this show's popularity, and it was the last major element open in the land.
Camp Minnie Mickey closed in 2014 and the Festival of the Lion King along with it. Later in the year, it would move to Africa where it ran up until the COVID19 pandemic.
The original location was notably temporary, but it inspired the more permanent version that persists to today and will hopefully return soon with the hit Festival of the Lion King.
