5 Disney Rides That Would Improve Their Park By Closing

Disney is a master of theme park design. But even the master gets it wrong some times, and their mistakes can last years, even bringing the entire park down with them.

Today we are going to talk about five Disney rides that would make their park better if they were to close altogether.

1. Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Magic Carpets of Aladdin Adventureland Magic Kingdom Disney World

Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a fine ride, the problem is its placement. It puts a massive roadblock in the center of Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom, causing frequent traffic jams and crowding surrounding this ride. This space was originally empty to allow for better traffic flow, and there was a reason for that. Maybe move this somewhere else, or better yet, give Aladdin the suspended dark ride it deserves.

2. Star Wars Launch Bay

Launch Bay Theater Disney's Hollywood Studios

Star Wars Launch Bay served an important purpose, giving Star Wars an expanded place at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland in anticipation of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. But now that the land is here, this obviously temporary attraction really has no place in the park, and would be much better replaced by something else.

3. Golden Zephyr

Golden Zepher Paradise Gardens Park Disney California Adventure

The Golden Zephyr was originally one of a collection of rides designed to be classic boardwalk rides on Paradise Pier. But now that this land is no more this ride does not have a place. It is also just boring, with low speeds spinning in a circle. No thrills, no hills, the only advantage is the views.

4. Astro Orbiter

This ride is yet another Dumbo like spinner that creates problems due to being put in the middle of a previously empty pathway. Putting a ride in the center of the entrance of a land was a terrible idea, and it still causes problems to this day, sometimes making Tomorrowland have to use cast members as crowd control. Removing or moving it would help to fix this ongoing problem at Disneyland.

5. Tomorrowland Speedway/ Autopia

Autopia Ride Vehicle Disneyland

Autopia and the Tomorrowland Speedway, while futuristic when they were designed, creating the roadways of tomorrow, are now relics of the past. In what way are gas cars traveling on highways the future. Even switching them to electric would fix the ride. But the ride as it makes no since in Tomorrowland, and takes up way more room than its worth. The two US Disney Parks should follow Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland in reimagining this area for the future.
