Knotts Berry Farm is a classic amusement park filled with world class attractions and high quality roller coasters of all kinds. It features some unique rides and attractions that don't have any similar versions in the region.
Today we are counting down the five best roller coasters currently located in Knotts Berry Farm amusement park.
5. Pony Express
The Pony Express is one of several family roller coasters at the park, and it certainly has a claim to being the best one. Starting with a launch, which isn't exactly a normal element on a family coaster, it then continues through a layout featuring relatively forceful hills.
This park has a lot of kiddie to family-scale coasters and this one differentiates itself from the other similar coasters like Jaguar and Sierra Sidewinder in a positive way. It is also located in the best-themed section of the park, providing great looks at the surrounding Ghost Town and GhostRider.
4. Xcelerator
Xcelerator is yet another launch coaster at the park, but much more intense and way less themed. Reaching up to 80 miles per hour, this ride has an incredibly intense launch up the first hill of the roller coaster, going over a top hat of over 200 feet.
The ride then passes through two forceful overbanked turns that make this ride more special than several other similar roller coasters with one main element of a launched tophat. It is also notable for helping develop the technology behind other classic rides, while still being an amazing experience.
3. HangTime
HangTime was advertised as the first dive coaster in California and it added a world-class coaster to Knotts Berry Farm. Located in a small plot of land that previously held only a Boomerang, the newest coaster at Knotts Berry Farm is a wonderful experience.
Featuring five inversions, this coaster has a tightly compact layout but it does not suffer from its lack of space. All the transitions are incredibly smooth and it still keeps a relatively strong speed through most of the elements.
With a beyond vertical 150-foot drop, this coaster holds its own against coasters of considerably bigger scale at the park, providing a unique experience, especially combined with its great night lighting package.
2. Silver Bullet
Silver Bullet is the park's inverted roller coaster and by far its most intense roller coaster. Featuring more inversions than any other ride at Knotts Berry Farm (six), this ride is a wonderful centerpiece for the park, located in a position where it visually serves as the centerpiece entrance for the park.
This ride is a moderatly large inverted coaster, and it is well paced with great transitions between the elements. It also keeps up its speed throughout the entire coaster, allowing for the helixes near the end of the layout to be some of the most forceful elements in the entire coaster.
The ride is easily in the top tier of coasters in the park, being the only one of its kind in the region.
1. GhostRider
GhostRider is probably the most iconic roller coaster at the park, and thats for good reason. This classic wooden coaster has impressive stats, with a 108 foot first drop and reaching a maximum speed of 56 miles per hour.
The scale of this ride is bigger than pretty much anything else at the park allowing it to conquer elements on a scale bigger than the other roller coasters of the park, giving it a world class wooden roller coaster that stretches beyond the limits of the park.
Its layout sees the train go through its path twice, first going through several giant airtime hills exposed to the sun combined with a few turns before passing through the supports of the layout.
This is the best part of the ride, filled with the added thrill of claustrophobia as you are entirely surrounded by wooden supports. It also manages to pack in several intense airtime moments throughout the entire layout without ever slowing down.
