Lake Compounce is currently holding a special family friendly Halloween event called Happy Hauntings on weekends throughout the month of October. As a part of this event, several seasonal food offerings have been made available throughout the park to enjoy, including one of the current highlights, a Mac O Lantern.
The Mac O Lantern, available during Happy Hauntings at the Potato Patch, is a special Halloween treat to enjoy at the park.
This treat is an orange bell pepper, cut to look like a Jack-O-Lantern, and filled with mac and cheese to the point of it overflowing, and served on top of lettuce.
This dish looks amazing, but unfortunately the taste does not match the appearance. The mac and cheese is largely flavorless, making the dish feel incomplete as a whole.
If you are looking for a photogenic holiday treat this is a great choice. If you are looking for the best food in the park, you may want to choose one of the better offerings either at The Potato Patch or in another restaurant in the park.
