Hong Kong Disneyland opened with versions of many classic Disney rides, but was notably missing a version of the Haunted Mansion. A few years later they got a unique adaptation of this ride created to respect Chinese culture, Mystic Manor.
This told an original story of a monkey in an enchanted mansion, in a modern take on a classic Disney attraction. Here are 10 fun facts about one of Disney's best rides of all time.
1. Haunted Inspiration
This ride was inspired by the Haunted Mansion. Due to traditional cultural beliefs in China, it was decided ghosts would not be received well or respectful, leading to the creation of Mystic Manor for Hong Kong Disneyland.
2. SEA
This ride is a part of the larger Society of Explorers and Adventurers storyline that connects rides like Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion.
3. Club
This ride features props previously featured in the Adventurers Club from Pleasure Island in Walt Disney World.
4. Rooms
There are nine specially themed rooms within this attraction.
5. Basis In Eureka
This mansion is based on one in Eureka California.
6. Medusa Tribute
There is a Haunted Mansion tribute in the Medusa painting, which references a similar painting in the Haunted Mansion.
7. Trackless
This is a trackless dark ride, similar to Pooh's Hunny Hunt and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway.
8. Original Song
This ride features an original song called Magic In The Air.
9. Preshow
Similar to the Haunted Mansion, this ride features a preshow that introduces you to the two main characters of the ride, Albert and Lord Mystic.
10. Tiki Room
One of the rooms is inspired by the Enchanted Tiki Room, another classic Disney attraction.
