 1. Walkthrough

Caretaker and Dog Haunted Mansion Disneyland

The ride at the beginning of the design of this ride, it was intended to be a walkthrough attraction.

2. Stretching Room



At Disneyland in the Stretching Room, you can hear the famous quote, "Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination?" The answer is yes. The room is an elevator that takes you beneath the Disneyland Railroad.

3. Madame Leota

The face of Madame Leota is based on an Imagineer named Leota Toombs. 

4. Building

The outside of the ride was intended by the Imagineers to be run down and old. But Walt Disney wanted the outside to be pristine and the ghosts only haunting inside. 

5. Holiday Overlay

During Halloween and Christmas, you can ride a version Haunted Mansion where Jack Skellington shows the ghosts Christmas. 

6. Shipley Lydecker House



The Haunted Mansion's exterior design in Disneyland was based on The Shipley Lydecker House in Baltimore, despite the ride being set in New Orleans.

7. Hatbox Ghost

For decades the Hatbox ghost Animatronic was missing from the Attraction. But in 2015, the animatronic reappeared in a new form.

8. Hitchhiking Ghost Names

The Hitchhiking Ghosts at the end of the ride have names. They are Gus, Phineas, and Ezra.

9. 20,000 Leagues

The organ in the ballroom scene is actually a reused film prop from the Disney version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

10. 13 Minute Wait

Haunted Mansion Load Station Disneyland

When there is below a 15-minute wait, the wait time sign says 13 minutes, playing into the rides spooky setting.
