Walt Disney World has now been open for several months following an extended closure due to the COVID19 pandemic. While construction had reached a standstill during the closure, almost every project at the parks has restarted construction at this point leaving open the question of when the next new ride will open at Walt Disney World amid the pandemic.

The next new ride to open at Walt Disney World will almost certainly be Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. This attraction is a clone of the same ride from Walt Disney Studios in Paris that is being added to the France Pavilion in Epcot.

It was set to open this summer, alongside a crepe shop and other additions to the World Showcase Pavilion, but obviously, this did not happen.

When the parks reopened there was still additional construction needed on this attraction, but based on the rough timetable Disney had provided it should still be able to technically open by the end of this year.

But that still leaves the question of will it open?

Disney may not want to open a new ride amidst the pandemic when they cannot adequately take advantage of it. Whenever Disney opens a new ride, it typically leads to an attendance boost, which isn't exactly going to happen when park capacity is being limited, and a sizable portion of potential visitors are either barred from going to Walt Disney World, or are too fearful of the pandemic to plan a trip. Even if it is ready, it may actually make more sense to wait until conditions improve to open the ride.

We also don't know what a Disney ride opening looks like amid a pandemic. The only ride to open since the pandemic was in Tokyo Disneyland, which isn't actually owned by Disney, so we can't necessarily use it as an example.

If they choose to open the ride amid the pandemic, we might see some kind of virtual queue utilized to make up for the initial demand, especially as this is by no means meant to be an E-Ticket, but as the first new Disney ride after the pandemic, and the first entirely new Epcot ride in over a decade.

If they choose not to open this ride either immediately before or after this year's holiday season, I would not expect it to open until the restrictions are lifted. Disney is inevitably going to be making a huge marketing push when fireworks, parades, and more are allowed to come back, and this would make for a great headlining attraction alongside all the returning entertainment.

If we continue to hear nothing, expect this to be delayed for an extended period. But we may also be getting an official opening timeframe very soon.
