Breakdown

There were not a lot of shocks in this set of nominations. It is worth noting that The Lighting Thief did not recieve any nominations, in a season where it was one of four musicals and the only one with original music. The lack of a nomination of its lead actor gives the Tony Award automatically to Aaron Tveit, who was the only other person eligible. This will be his first award.

As we already knew one category does not exist this year, revival of a musical, due to the revivals not meeting the new eligibility requirements.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winner Aaron Tveit, and all the shows that were unable to be nominated. Theater will be back.
