Never Built Magic Kingdom

New Fantasyland in Walt Disney World reimagined the most iconic land at the most visited theme park on the planet with new attractions that perfectly complimented what was already there, bringing to life new and classic stories in new ways.

But the New Fantasyland that was built at the Magic Kingdom, was not the one that was actually built at the park.

The original New Fantasyland was announced in 2009 and was supposed to be built on the same land that the actual New Fantasyland was built on. About half of the land was set to be the same as the land that currently exists, with a relocated version of Dumbo with two ride systems, a rethemed Barnstormer, The Little Mermaid ride, and the Beauty and the Beast section all surviving from the original version of the plan.

But absent from the plan was keeping the meet and greet plaza from Toontown, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and the removal of Snow White's Scary Adventures, and in their place were other experiences.

In the place of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, this land would have instead held a collection of elaborate meet and greet experiences in the style of Enchanted Tales With Belle featuring Cinderella, Snow White, and Aurora.

The meet and greet circus tents would have been torn down in this plan, and replaced with a mini-land based on the Tinkerbelle film franchise, including meet and greets and a ride.

This proposal was almost immediately criticized for its lack of rides, with only two new rides coming to the park in a massive expansion to one of the most popular areas. The criticism was strong enough that the plans would actually be changed before construction into the plan that was actually built.
