Throughout the first part of the existence of Disney's Hollywood Studios, it featured a certain amount of film production at the actual amusement park. Significantly, an entire wing of Disney's animation department was located at the park, alongside an interactive exhibit.

Several Disney films were animated here, including the preshow to the Epcot attraction Cranium Command, Lilo and Stitch, and more.

Guests could watch animators do their work on these films while they were being made, as well as learn to draw some of the iconic characters.

The exhibit also featured a number of games, including drawing games and trivia games, and a few small show-style displays featuring Disney characters like Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast and Kronk from Emperor's New Groove.

The Magic of Disney Animation also became home to tons of character meet and greets over the years from characters ranging the entire history of Disney animated films. Some characters ended up finding permanent meet-and-greet locations in this spot on top of a constantly rotating number of other characters.

It was significantly the home for numerous meet and greets paying tribute to new releases, giving them a permanent and fitting place in the Disney Parks.

Eventually, as the theme of Disney's Hollywood Studios changed, this spot would no longer fit in the park, with the actual functioning animation department long since having left the building. It would be replaced by Star Wars Launch Bay that still operates in this building today (although it is temporarily closed due to the pandemic).
