Walt Disney World Rides That Are Better At Night

Disney Adventurer

Walt Disney World is home to tons of classic rides and attractions that are amazing to experience at any time. But some rides are better to ride at night, when Disney adds special lighting and effects to their classic attractions.

We are sharing a look at some attractions in the parks of Walt Disney World that are much better to experience at night.

Peoplemover

The Peoplemover gives a chance to travel above Tomorrowland in Walt Disney World and get a view of all of the land's attractions. At night, you get to see the land with its brilliant lighting package, and it gives Tomorrowland and the Peoplemover an entirely different feeling that makes it feel more futuristic and alien.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the western mine themed roller coaster in Walt Disney World that takes you in and out of various abandoned mineshafts on the brink of collapse. At night this coaster lights up in various colors that make the experience more immersive. The ghost town lights up, and the effects inside the tunnels are more effective in the dark, making you feel more transported to a bygone abandoned mining town.

Mad Tea Party

The Mad Tea Party at night becomes an entirely different experience than it is during the day, lighting up with a light show synced to the music. It also has special holiday-themed versions that make use of this lighting package making the ride into something uniquely special for the season that can only be experienced at night.

Alien Swirling Saucers

During the day Alien Swirling Saucers is a fun flat ride but at night its lights make the experience a lot more exciting. It looks significantly better both on and off the ride at night, and is timed to the music, making for a more exciting experience.

Expedition Everest

Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom might be the ride most improved by nighttime at all of Walt Disney World. It starts with an impressive lighting package on the mountain that adds to the foreboding eeriness of the forbidden mountain as you approach it, both on the queue line and on the early part of the ride.

Much of the attraction's outside portions also take place in near-complete darkness at night, adding to the thrill factor of the chase portions of the ride. You can't see where you are going, making every part of the coaster feel more intense and adding value to the show scenes as they are the few times that you can see what is happening.
