Biggest Theme Park Events of 2019

As the year comes to a close, we here at Theme Parks and Entertainment thought it would be nice to do a few retrospectives on the year and even the decade in theme parks. So first we are going to talk about some of the biggest Theme Park Events of 2019

Universal's Epic Universe Announcement

This project has been rumored for years and we got our first announcement of it this past summer. Even though no attractions were announced, the concept art alone got us excited about this new Universal park.

IllumiNations Closure

It seems weird to include a fireworks show leaving as a big theme park event, but it had been such a large part of Epcot for the last 20 years. Not only that, its closure represents a larger theme change for the park, away from its original theme and into a new more timeless and more Disney theme.

D23 Expo 2019

D23 brought a lot of Disney Parks announcements of things to come for Disney Parks around the world.

Galaxy's Edge Opens

This was the definitive theme park event of 2019. After years of anticipation, the immersive Star Wars land opened at both Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios, giving us two new attractions to enjoy.
