Today we honor the passing of Jerry Herman through a look at two Broadway theatres dimming the lights of their marquees to remember him and his contributions to the Broadway community and history.
Jerry Herman wrote scores for many famous Broadway musicals, most notably Mame and Hello Dolly, giving the world classic songs popular beyond Broadway, like Hello Dolly and We Need a Little Christmas.
Disney fans will recognize his music from the Pixar film WALLE and from the background loop on all the versions of Main Street USA from around the world.
This is a decades-long Broadway tradition and a great way to remember someone who contributed so much to Broadway and musical theater.
