Walt Disney World is home to many iconic rides that become a part of many family memories. Because of this many people may want to film their favorite ride during their trip to the four theme parks. But is this allowed?

Let's explore the filming on rides policy Disney has in place throughout their theme parks, including exceptions to the rules.

As a rule, filming is allowed on almost every ride in Walt Disney World. Disney allows you to take photos and videos on most of the major rides, from dark rides like Haunted Mansion, to roller coasters like Expedition Everest. The one major rule that they have is that you cannot use flash photography on any ride as it ruins the effects on the attractions.

However, there are some exceptions to these rules that are worth knowing if it is your intention to record the rides at Walt Disney World, so you are not confronted by cast members enforcing them on your vacation.

Some rides do ban you from recording the rides.

Rock N Roller Coaster is probably the most significant example of this exception. Recording on this ride is banned due to the nature of the attraction. This is a high-speed roller coaster that passes over itself multiple times at high speed, on top of going upside down. It would be dangerous to allow unsecured cameras on the ride. Do not attempt to record while on this ride as this rule is strictly enforced.

Many show-style attractions also ban you from recording the show.

For instance, you are not allowed to record American Adventure, the show in the America Pavilion in Epcot. Many other shows in Epcot also ban filming, as well as other shows throughout Walt Disney World. If a show attraction is going to ban filming, it will be announced before the show begins. Do not break this rule, as you can cause the show to stop or be interrupted by a Cast Member.

Filming and photography are allowed almost everywhere in Walt Disney World, just make sure you know the few locations where it is not allowed so you can follow the rules and have a great trip.
