Where Can Disney Build An Encanto Ride?

Disney Adventurer

Encanto has become a smash hit ever since it got released on Disney Plus, especially the music. It is difficult to tell in this current world how popular it is with box office numbers being what they are and Disney not fully releasing statistics on Disney Plus but it could easily be seen as Disney's biggest hit since the Frozen franchise.

It is not too outside the realm of possibility for us to assume that Encanto will be getting a ride in the Disney Parks at some point in the not too distant future.

So how might this happen?

Here are some realistic ways Encanto could come to the Disney Parks, mainly focusing on the American parks.

Keep in mind that there aren't really rumors about this yet, this is just based on previous rumors that Disney has had, and places that need some attention in the Disney Parks.

The most natural fit for an Encanto ride would most likely be in Epcot, with the addition of a potential Columbia pavilion alongside an Encanto ride. This fits perfectly for a lot of reasons. First Epcot has been looking to add a South American country for a while. It's really one of the last areas of the world that has no significant representation in the World Showcase. If you have taken any survey at Epcot in the last decade most of them include a question about "would you like to see a restaurant with south american inspired food in the world showcase" and rumors for the last decade have constantly spiraled about a Brazil pavilion, peaking right before the last D23 although it was not announced. Disney fans have wanted a new country in Epcot's World Showcase for a long time, and Encanto may be the perfect way to have that happen.

It is a film that is ingrained in the country's culture. This isn't a Frozen situation where it's just a film that happens to take place in Norway. The culture and history of Colombia is a part of the film's plot Disney could easily use Encanto as a way to get a new country into Epcot. World Showcase also desperately needs more rides at the moment. Even now with Ratatouille open, there are only three rides in this entire half of the park.

There is one reason why this does seem somewhat unlikely. Epcot is in the middle of a major redo, and Disney typically does not add more rides to park immediately following something like this.

So where else in Walt Disney World could an Encanto ride work? A ride could easily fit anywhere in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Almost anything can work thematiclly in Disney's Hollywood Studios. An Encanto ride wouldn't really work in Disney's Animal Kingdom unless the ride is focused on Antonio. Weirder things have been done with Disney rides, but this would not be a natural fit for the ride.  The ride could also fit in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom. There is an expansion pad that disney has not used in the land that could easily hold an Ancanto ride.

So there are just some ways and places that Disney could bring Encanto to Walt Disney World, so now let's move on to the Disneyland Resort.

This resort is a lot more difficult because the parks are landlocked and there's really not a lot of expansion space. This would mean it would need to replace something that already exists.

Encanto could be a good potential replacement for parts of Hollywoodland. This land has gotten the reputation as one of the weakest areas of any Disney Park in the world and it's constantly rumored for replacement. Encanto could easily be a part of whatever replaces it even if the movie doesn't really make a lot of sense in Disney California Adventure.

So if Disney did want to stick more along with something that would fit the theme of the park, there is a perfect way that Disney could bring in Encanto to Disney California Adventure in an amazing way, by make it the replacement for Frozen Live at the Hyperion. Encanto, with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame just feels like it would be an amazing stage musical, and if Disney doesn't want to bring back Frozen this could be a perfect way to bring Encanto to the stage, by cutting the film down to an hour-long ish musical. This could also happen a lot faster than any ride that Disney would build. Encanto certainly seems to be growing in popularity and it will not be disappearing from the Disney Parks anytime soon.
