The Matinee performance of Jagged Little Pill was interrupted today by a reported pepper spray incident inside the theater in the middle of act 2.
Everyone was evacuated and first responders quickly arrived on the scene and controlled the situation and cleared the theater.
The show initially was going to try to finish the show but emergency operations took too long to allow the show to finish with enough time to prepare for the night show.
Exchanges and refunds are being offered for everyone in the theater who was affected by the incident and unable to see the full show.
We here at TPE hope everyone is safe and sound after a stressful afternoon at the theater. Broadway should always be a safe place and it is horrible when things like this happen and ruin a performance.
Here is a video of some of the aftermath as well as the announcement that the show would not continue and that refunds and exchanges would be offered.
If you were in the theater please share your story with us in the comments below.
Right before this happened, a women sitting two rows behind us in the orchestra section was asked to leave because she was on her phone and had also made inappropriate comments. The people around us shushed her a few times... quite loudly. Then there was commotion on the other side of the theater, which led to the evacuation. Through it all, the cast on stage never missed a beat. The epitome of professional!! Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed that I didn't get to see the entire show. What we did see was fantastic!
ReplyDeleteMich, I'm so sorry this happened! How unfair to you and the others who bought tickets, perhaps traveled, and waited eagerly to see this revolutionary show. I hope you'll get to exchange your tix and go again rather than a refund, because not one second of this show should be missed!
DeleteThat's so upsetting! It is always terrible when a few people ruin a great performance for everyone!
