2022 is set to be a big year for roller coasters, with major additions set to come to many amusement parks across the US.

So here are some of the most anticipated roller coasters from across the US that are currently set to make their debut during the 2022 season. For the purposes of this list, only new roller coasters are being considered, not rethemed or relocated roller coasters. They are listed in no particular order.

Emperor

Emperor is a roller coaster original set for a 2020 opening at SeaWorld San Diego, delayed alongside several other SeaWorld roller coasters that will appear later on this list. This is a dive coaster featuring four inversions that will be one of the biggest coasters ever added to the park.

Tron Lightcycle Run

Tron Lightcycle Run is a clone of the same ride currently operating at Shanghai Disneyland that was supposed to open at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World for its 50th anniversary. Now set to open in 2022, this will be the first major new attraction at the most popular theme park in the world in almost a decade.

Pantheon

Pantheon is another of the roller coasters delayed in the SeaWorld chain that was originally set to open in 2020 at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. This unique multilaunch roller coaster will almost certainly become one of the best attractions at the park when it opens, with a top speed of 73 mph and two inversions.

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind


Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind is a roller coaster set to open in 2022 in Epcot as the first coaster in the history of this park at Walt Disney World. Themed based on the Marvel franchise that shares its name, this ride features an original story on a highly themed launched spinning indoor roller coaster.

Ice Breaker

Ice Breaker is another of the SeaWorld delayed roller coaster, originally planned to open in 2020 at SeaWorld Orlando. This launched family coaster looks to be a fun moderately sized roller coaster that is unlike any ride currently at the park, adding a much needed mid tier coaster to the park.

Dr. Diabolical's Cliff Hanger


Dr. Diabolical's Cliff Hanger is a dive roller coaster that is set to be added in 2022 to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. This is a massive coaster that will be one of the biggest additions to a Six Flags park in years. With two inversions and a beyond vertical drop, this roller coaster will help celebrate the park's 30th anniversary.

Aquaman Power Wave

Aquaman Power Wave is a roller coaster set to open in 2022 at Six Flags Over Texas. Original slated for a 2020 opening, this roller coaster was delayed due to the pandemic and will finally be opening in this year. Featuring a splashdown element, launch, and two vertical spiked track elements, this will be a wonderful addition for the Texas park, bridging the gap between a coaster and a water ride.

Defiance

Defiance is set to be a unique coaster coming to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in 2022. Located on the side of a mountain, this will be a unique coaster that will feature two inversions. Its unique design will be a perfect with for this strange park.

Wonder Woman Flight of Courage

Six Flags Magic Mountain is set to open a new roller coaster in 2022, themed based on the iconic superhero Wonder Woman. This ride is a near clone of Jersey Devil Coaster and will be the largest RMC Raptor single rail coaster when it opens, giving Magic Mountain a major new ride.

Iron Gwazi


Iron Gwazi is an RMC hybrid roller coaster that is anticipated to be one of the best roller coasters in the world when it opens in 2022. With a height of over 200 feet and two inversions, this roller coaster will be a star attraction when it opens in 2022 at Bush Gardens Tampa. This roller coaster is by far the most elaborate of the coaters delayed by SeaWorld from 2020. This ride will be truely unique when it finally opens and it should be one of, if not the best coaster in Florida.
