A Tribute To Diana The Musical On Broadway

Diana The Musical Playbill in Front of the Curtain of Flowers Broadway Show

Diana The Musical is closing today after over a month of performances on Broadway. This musical comedy premiered a proshot of the performance filmed without an audience during the Broadway shutdown on Netflix before opening on November 17th.

The musical was not beloved by critics but soon after opening began developing a dedicated cult following, amid one of the best social media campaigns put on by any Broadway show in recent memory.

This show was the result of the hard work of dozens of cast members, understudies and swings, crew, and creative team members who put on a show amid some of the harshest conditions of any musical to ever hit Broadway. Each one of them is incredibly talented and showcased in this show. They all have their work permanently preserved on the Netflix recording.

The People's Princess came to life each night on Broadway for this show's run, brilliantly portrayed by Jeanna du Waal. The entire cast embodies their characters in the campy spirit of the show. From Judy Kayne's incredible dual portrayal of the Queen and Barbara Cartland, as well as the brilliantly paired Erin Davie and Roe Hartrampf as Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Charles, the entire cast was perfectly chosen for the show, alongside a remarkably talented supporting cast.

Diana did not take itself too seriously, and found exactly what it wanted to be. It was a show meant to be seen with an audience, and that audience found the show, even if only for a short time.
