Can You Do Lake Compounce and Quassy in One Day?

Lake Compounce and Quassy are the two main amusement parks in Connecticut, and both feature classic style attractions as well as some modern hit rides and roller coasters. Each are medium to smaller scale amusement parks, so if you are planning a trip to the region it might be reasonable to ask if you could do both parks in the same day.

This is certainly possible, but it would require some planning, and accepting that you are not going to get everything done at both parks. Also, if you intend on doing the water parks as well as the dry amusement parks, plan a full day at Lake Compounce, and at least half a day at Quassy. This guide is assuming you are only focusing on the amusement park aspect of the parks.

If you are going to do this I would recommend starting your day at Lake Compounce. It gets the longer lines of the two parks, and you can typically avoid this by getting to the park when it opens. The two longest lines are typically for Boulder Dash, the park's most famous roller coaster, and Wildcat, the park's oldest roller coaster, so those should be your first stops.

After those rides you should hit as many of the major rides as you can while the lines are still short, as everyone typically runs to either those two rides or the water park. Good rides to hit during this period are Ghost Hunt, Phobia Phear Coaster, Down Time, and Zoomerang, and Saw Mill Plunge which typically get the longest lines.

Then, once lines start getting long, do whatever else you want to do in the park amongst the smaller scale attractions then get ready to leave for Quassy.

Make sure you eat lunch at the park as the food at Lake Compounce is amazing. Potato Patch and Timberjack Chowhouse are the two standout locations but there really isn't a bad place to eat at the park anymore.

When you arrive at Quassy you will need to decide if you want a full day wristband or to purchase ride tickets to pay per ride. If you just want to do the coasters, then you should pay by ride, but if you want to do more then buy a wristband. My recommendation is you wander the park if you are unfamiliar with it before purchasing anything, so you can decide how much you want to ride.

The lines at Quassy never get as bad as Lake Compounce, so you should still have plenty of time to complete a decent amount of the park, but make sure to check the hours of the park on the day of your visit, as if the park closes earlier then it may not be possible to do both in one day.

Finally, make sure you eat dinner at Quassy before leaving. The Quassy Restaurant is one of the best amusement park food locations I have ever eaten at, and a vital part of the Quassy experience.

It is certainly possible to do both Quassy and Lake Compounce in one day, but it does require some advanced planning to get the best of your day.
