As a part of the massive redevelopment plan for the Disneyland Resort that would have seen their parking lot turned into a new theme park known as Westcot, a brand new hotel was planned to be built alongside the new park. This new resort hotel would have been themed to the new park and would be known as the Westcot Lake Resort.

Being built alongside a body of water near the park, this hotel was to be a massive new expansion in how to stay at the Disneyland Resort, expanding the options beyond the Disneyland Hotel for specially built Disney-themed hotels.

The resort would have included 1,800 rooms and have been connected to a newly redesigned plaza between the two theme parks that would have made up the Disneyland Resort. The resort would also be connected to an expanded Monorail, allowing for transportation easily to the different locations around the Disneyland Resort.

This hotel would have been located in roughly the location currently home to Disney's Grand Californian Resort, although with a significantly different theme.

While the Westcot Lake Resort was not built, a highly themed hotel would remain a constant in the plans for the redevelopment of the Disneyland Resort to include a second theme park. A new hotel, themed to the park that actually got built, Disney California Adventure, was built and still welcomes guests to this day.

These early plans gave the Disneyland Resort the chance to add additional hotel space that was desperately needed, and connected to the theme park experience.
