Amusement Park History
Six Flags New England during its early years under that name included many themed lands based on various properties beyond the DC characters and Looney Tunes characters that the park currently features. This included land's based on the then extremely popular childrens characters from The Wiggles.
During this time period, The Wiggles even visited the park to perform a concert to celebrate the opening of the land, with all of the classic characters from the show's early days making an appearance.
This show which took place in the picnic area at the park normally reserved for group activities was a short event, cut short by rain, but it brought the characters that had inspired the Wiggles section of the park to life with the original characters from the show, in a way much more elaborate than the smaller scale daily show that took place within the Wiggles area.
Only three of the original Wiggles performed during this concert as Greg, (the original yellow Wiggle) had already left the show.
This Wiggles land, known as Wiggles World, would be short lived, closing for the 2011 season due to Six Flags limiting rights fees after having only been open for a few years.
This opening ceremony was a great celebration for this land, and an oppertunity to see the real people behind the attractions opening at the park. It is a wonderful part of the history of Six Flags New England.
