Why IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth Would be a Perfect Fit In Tokyo DisneySea

IllumiNations Reflections of Earth from Canada Epcot

Tokyo DisneySea is about to lose its longstanding nighttime spectacular, Fantasmic. This got me thinking about what could possibly replace it, and then I realized something, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, the longstanding show about to leave Epcot in Walt Disney World would be a near-perfect fit for this park.

Just specifying this is not a rumor, just something I thought would fit perfectly for the park.

Tokyo DisneySea is probably the only other Disney Park where IllumiNations could possibly work, due to its large lagoon, and given its water and exploration theme, a show built for World Showcase would fit right in. Fantasmic is already barge-based, so adding in the new globe and inferno barges would be nothing new. In fact, I'm sure they could even find a way for the Society of Explorers and Adventurers organization to host the spectacular with only minor changes to the images on the globe and preshow announcement.

In fact,  the music for this show is already a part of Tokyo DisneySea, having been a part of the Port Discovery area loop for years, along with a lot of other Epcot music.

There is another reason this show would be perfect for the park at this moment. It is no secret that Tokyo Disney Resort is currently preparing for the Olympics in Tokyo with massive expansions to both of their parks. What better way to celebrate the Olympics within the park than with a show about the unifying nature of the human experience. This show was designed to celebrate the international unity of the millennium, and these themes fit perfectly with the international unity that the Olympics represents.

Now, I have no belief that this will happen, but this show would be a perfect fit for this park at this moment in time, and it would allow a much-beloved Disney show a second chance at life to an international audience who has likely never experienced it before.
