Recently various streaming services have begun to invest in a lot of Broadway Proshots, or filmed recordings of live stage productions of Broadway shows, most famously with Hamilton coming to Disney Plus. But it is far from the only proshot currently on the major streaming services.

So here is a comprehensive list of which proshots are currently available to stream in the US on the major streaming services as of late 2021. This is only including the major streaming services but do be aware there is a wealth of other proshots available on BroadwayHD.

Disney Plus

Hamilton

As mentioned in the intro, Disney Plus currently features a proshot of the original Broadway cast of the hit musical Hamilton. This was recorded towards the end of the original cast's run in the production but it was just released in 2020.

Newsies

A proshot of Newsies featuring key actors from the original Broadway cast is currently available to watch on Disney Plus. While it was not filmed on Broadway, instead being filmed of the tour version of the show, several actors including Jeremy Jordan and Kara Lindsay returned for the production.

Bonus: Broadway Hits at Royal Albert Hall

A relatively recent addition to Disney Plus is a recording of a concert featuring music from Disney's various stage productions recorded in London with a variety of stage performers. While it is not a formal Broadway show, you can see music performed from stage productions from Aida, to The Lion King, to Mary Poppins, and more.

Bonus: Step In Time Mary Poppins

While not a full proshot, a professional recording of Step In Time from the stage production of Mary Poppins is available to watch in the extras section of the classic film.

Netflix

Shrek The Musical

Shrek The Musical is a stage production of the musical version of the classic Dreamworks animated film with an all star Broadway Cast that includes the likes of Brian D'Arcy James, Sutton Foster, and Daniel Breaker. With a great original score and some songs from the movie, this is a wonderful adaptation.

Oh, Hello

Oh, Hello was a play staring comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney as two old men that ran on Broadway in 2016. A proshot of that production is currently available on Netflix to enjoy.

Springsteen On Broadway

During the original run of this show (not the 2021 revival), the Springsteen On Broadway concert was recorded and this proshot is currently available to stream on Netflix, giving you the opportunity to experience a Bruce Springsteen concert and Broadway show on Netflix.

Diana

This is a unique film. Recorded on stage during the Broadway shutdown due to COVID19, this musical actually premiered on Netflix before opening on Broadway. With a great score and telling the famous story of Princess Diana, this is a modern musical that is certainly worth a watch.

HBO Max

Come From Away

Come From Away Broadway Marquee

Similar to Diana, this show was recorded during the COVID19 Broadway shutdown, bringing back much of the original Broadway cast of this hit musical. Following the story of the people of Gander Newfoundland and those stranded there on 9/11 when US airspace closed, it is a story of loss, hope, and finding connection that is one of the best musicals in recent memory.

American Utopia

Filmed during the original run of the show (not the 2021 revival), American Utopia is a hybrid between a concert and Broadway show that won a Special Tony Award during its first time on Broadway. It is a joyous experience that will make you want to experience the show on Broadway now that it is back on stage.

Amazon Prime

What The Constitution Means To Me

What The Constitution Means To Me was an autobiographical play that ran on Broadway in 2019 written and performed by Heidi Shreck that explores a variety of topics including her life, American politics, and abuse. It is a moving and unique show that is included in your Amazon Prime subscription.
