Disney Parks Character Tribute

Darth Vader Character Jedi Training Academy Disney's Hollywood Studios Walt Disney World

Darth Vader is one of the most iconic characters in the entire Star Wars franchise, and one of the best film villains ever created, and he was one of the first Star Wars characters to make appearances in the Disney Parks.

He was a regular part of various shows and parades featuring Star Wars characters over the first several decades of Star Wars being in the Disney Parks. Vader appeared more than any other character with the exception of Stormtroopers.

Darth Vader was the main villain of the original version of the Jedi Training Academy show, fighting the children who participated in the show.

He also appeared as a part of the Star Wars unit of the Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade, as well as being a regular part of the Star Wars Weekends, and even having meet and greets in the parks, especially in later years following the end of Disney doing yearly Star Wars Weekends.

Following Disney purchasing Lucasfilm and Star Wars, Darth Vader began to disappear from the Disney Parks. Disney began utilizing characters from the Sequel Trilogy rather than any previous Star Wars media. He at first still appeared in some stage shows, but once Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opened it was nearly impossible to find him in the parks.

Today Darth Vader is barely in the Disney Parks, if at all, having been entirely replaced in most locations by Kylo Ren.

  1. I think he’s still around, but at Star Wars Launch Bay in Disneyland from time to time.
