While Broadway is closed, we thought it could be nice to relive some of the biggest moments of 2020 on Broadway so far before the closure.
West Side Story Protests
One of the biggest events on Broadway prior to the closures was the protests of the casting of an accused sexual harasser in the original Broadway cast of the revival of West Side Story. These continued through previews with the biggest one on opening night.
Broadway Dims its Lights for Jerry Herman
Early in the year, Broadway paid its respects to Broadway legend Jerry Herman by dimming the lights of all the marquees on Broadway. We were there to capture the lights dimming at The Walter Kerr and Longacre Theatres.
Pepper Spray Interrupts Matinee of Jagged Little Pill
A matinee of Jagged Little Pill ended early when a pepper spray incident led to the theatre being evacuated due to suspicion that it could have been something much worse. It led to chaos outside the theatre and eventually refunds for everyone inside.
