Lake Compounce
Lake Compounce is a moderately sized amusement park located in Bristol Connecticut, and it is currently home to five different roller coasters of varying intensity and quality, including everything from modern intense coasters, to kiddie coasters.
But which of these roller coasters is the best, and which is the worst. Here is a ranking of all the currently operating roller coasters at Lake Compounce as of the 2022 season from worst to best.
5. Kiddie Coaster
This roller coaster does what is supposed to do absolutely perfectly. It is a calm, low intensity kiddie coaster which is designed to be experienced primarily by young children as well as their families as an intro roller coaster.
It only ranks so low due to its limited audience. For the people it is made for it is perfect, but for anyone else it is an incredibly low intensity ride, which places it at the bottom of this list.
4. Wildcat
Wildcat is the park's oldest roller coaster, and one of two major wooden roller coasters currently found at Lake Compounce. It is also one of the roughest, most painful roller coasters currently operating in the world.
This ride has had multiple refurbishments over the years, and none has fixed the central problem, that this roller coaster is an incredibly rough experience. It is hard to enjoy any of the elements on this ride due to just how painful it is.
3. Zoomerang
Zoomerang is a Boomerang style roller coaster found at literally dozens of amusement parks around the world. It is a quality, mid tier roller coaster that includes multiple inversions, experienced both forwards and backwards. It is one of the most intense roller coasters at Lake Compounce, and only ranks so low just due to how many versions of this ride exist in the world.
2. Phobia Phear Coaster
Similar to Zoomerang, Phobia Phear Coaster is a cloned roller coaster that exists in several other amusement parks, but it is far less common than a Boomerang, and this ride is also of significantly higher quality.
Phobia Phear Coaster is a launched roller coaster featuring one inversion, and incredibly light restraints. It is an intense and thrilling experience with amazing views of the park's titular lake. This roller coaster is also remarkably smooth, making it one of the best coasters in the park.
1. Boulder Dash
Boulder Dash is the most famous roller coaster from Lake Compounce, having won multiple awards placing in first place in multiple worldwide wooden roller coaster rankings in its early years. While it has not won any awards in years, it still ranks high in these same awards to this day, even if it no longer claims the top spot.
This roller coaster is a high speed wooden coaster that travels through a woods covered mountainside, meaning you cannot see what is in front of you. The roller coaster utilizes the mountain for its layout, matching its hills and valleys. It is an incredible experience that is unlike any other roller coaster in the world that is currently operating.
