Rumors have been growing that Tomorrowland at Disneyland may potentially be getting a complete redesign in the near future. So what are these rumors more specifically, and what are the chances that they end up being true, specifically in relation to a classic lost Tomorrowland attraction, the Peoplemover?

Let's explore the currently circulating Disneyland Tomorrowland rumors in relation to the Peoplemover.

Tomorrowland at Disneyland as of right now includes a variety of classic rides, more modern rides, as well as some abandoned remains of former attractions. The latter opens up one of the major questions of a potential Tomorrowland redo, what will happen to the Peoplemover tracks.

The Peoplemover closed in the 1990s to be replaced by a short-lived Rocket Rodds attraction, which used the same tracks for a more high-speed ride experience. But, since the tracks were not updated for this ride, this ended up causing technical problems for the ride, leading to it facing significant operational issues, eventually leading to its permanent closure.

Since this, the Peoplemover tracks have sat abandoned throughout the entirety of Tomorrowland.

So, could the Peoplemover reopen on its former tracks?

There are a lot of theories on this, but almost none of them have any actual evidence behind them.

One of the most common theories is that structural damage has been done to the supports of the Peoplemover, making it so the ride could not return, and due to updated building codes, the supports could not be rebuilt.

Another is that Disney similarly could not remove the supports due to building codes without a high price tag, leaving them in a perpetual state of limbo.

This unfortunately makes it incredibly unlikely that the Peoplemover would come back to Disneyland. The Peoplemover passes through multiple other rides, which assuming any of the reports are true would mean that alterations to multiple attractions would be needed to bring back the Peoplemover.

However, this is not to say this is not possible. Disney could do this if they really wanted to, it would merely be a much more significant undertaking than it may initially appear to be.
