Disney World Halloween 2019 Planning Guide

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Fireworks Concept Art 2019

Halloween brings new decorations and entertainment to Disney World, making it a festive time to visit the parks. Here we will give you a guide to planning your Halloween trip to Disney World, including a guide to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Generic Guide

Disney historically does not do much outside of the Halloween Party for the holiday. This isn't as intense as Christmas, where celebrations occur in all four parks. Outside of orange and pumpkin-themed decorations throughout the Magic Kingdom, there really isn't much to do without the party. Your one real activity to do outside of the party is Disney Villian meet and greets. These aren't announced in advance, but happen more often on Main Street USA during these months and more rarely throughout Epcot or in other areas of the Magic Kingdom.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2019 Guide

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is the headliner of all Halloween activities at Disney World. It features exclusive food, character meet and greets, entertainment, merchandise, and ride overlays all themed to Halloween. Many of these have changed in the past couple of years, and this year's party has already had changes announced for it from last years lineup. Even if you have visited in the past you will definitely find something new at this year's event.

This is the preliminary guide based on previous years and announcements thus far for this year's party. TPE will be visiting the August 20th party and much more info (and photos!) will be uploaded shortly afterward.

This year is both the earliest the party has started and the latest the party has ever gone, for the first time extending past Halloween itself.

For pricing, it costs more to go on some nights than others, within advance prices ranging from $79 to $135 for adults.

Entertainment

The main entertainment for the night is the fireworks show and the parade. An all-new fireworks show will premiere this year, replacing Hallowishes, but details are scarce as to what it will include, beyond the knowledge that it will use Happily Ever After style projections. There will also be dessert parties for better viewing of this fireworks show

Other popular entertainment offerings from previous years are also returning.

The Boo To You Too Parade will be coming back, likely with at least one new float as has been common the past few years, although no official announcement has been made about this. If I had to guess, we will see Coco find its way into the parade this year, but that is just speculation.

The Hocus Pocus Spooktacular will also return, featuring the witches from the cult classic, as well as a lineup of famous Disney Villians.

The Cadaver Dans are also going to be bringing their signature style of fright to the party.

Ride Overlays

It is known ride overlays will be returning to the 2019 Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, but it is not known what they will be. There will be nothing as elaborate as Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday, but you can still expect some seasonal fun to be added to classic attractions. Here is a description of the overlays from last year's Halloween Party.

Pirate's of the Caribbean

Disney added three live actors to both the queue and the ride. It didn't really add anything special to the experience except it was cool to see actors in a Disney Ride.

Space Mountain

This just replaced the music with something slightly more intense and turned off all lights throughout the attraction. It made a dark ride even darker which is kinda thrilling and ups the fear of not knowing where you're going.

Mad Tea Party

This was probably the best of the overlays. You still got the same classic ride, but with Halloween themed lights and music. Minimal, but just enough to change it up for the part.

Characters

The characters at each Halloween party of the year are the same, but in general, characters are not announced until the first party.

Now, there are some guarantees. Jack Skellington and Sally Stitches are both definitely returning. Elvis Stich was a smash hit last year and will most likely be back. All the Winnie the Pooh characters have been a long-standing tradition, so they will almost definitely be back. The Seven Dwarfs are exceedingly popular and will also likely be back.

Other common characters at the event have been Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu, Jafar, and the Genie, Tarzan, Jane, and Terk, and Moana. Also, any Princesses outside of Princess Fairytale Hall regularly from the Magic Kingdom are joined by their prince (or Gaston).

Mickey and Friends characters can also be found in special outfits for the party.

There's no assurance any of them will return however until the first party.

Food

Food varies to greatly from year to year for me to review it prematurely. Typically we see a lot of food themed after Disney Villians that is more focused on appearance than taste, as well as candy corn flavored treats.

Candy

It wouldn't be Halloween without candy. Candy is given out free with party admission at several treat trails throughout the Magic Kingdom. The locations vary from year to year but usually include the Country Bear Jamboree and Main Street USA. Some of the more popular locations can have long waits, while others are walk-ups. Be sure to strategize as you don't want to waste precious party time in line for candy.

Mars Candy is given out at all of the stations.
