Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough
Every Disney castle has something inside it. From Cinderella's Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom to part of a ride at Shanghai Disneyland. The original castle, Sleeping Beauty Castle, despite being the smallest is no different.
The designers had to create something in a very small space as Walt Disney did not want the area above the castle going to waste. They choose a walkthrough version of Sleeping Beauty.
It has been a part of Disneyland for the rest of the history of the park, except shortly after 9/11 to 2008. Luckily it reopened with updates we can enjoy today.
The story was told through a series of windows and books that depict famous scenes from the Disney film.
It moves from the happy beginning where Aurora is born to loving parents...
...to her childhood in the woods with the three fairies.
But as you climb the story gradually gets darker as the curse takes hold of Aurora and Maleficent gains power.
The rooms are even darker at this point, and you can hear, and occasionally see Maleficent's guards patrolling the castle.
This all leads to what I consider the best window, the fight between Maleficent as a dragon and Prince Phillip.
But this is Disney however so of course there is a happy ending (this isn't Mr. Toad's Wild Ride).
You are then put out on the other side of the castle and reenter Fantasyland.
