Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is an opening day attraction at Disneyland. Based on the character Mr. Toad from The Wind in the Willows, this ride takes you on a mad motorcar ride along with Mr. Toad through the streets of England.
You start out in Toad Hall before boarding one of Mr. Toad's cars and joining him merrily on his way to nowhere in particular.
This ride is notably darker in tone than the other classic Fantasyland dark rides, as well as being very low tech. This ride still uses only cutout characters, with no 3D figures or audio-animatronics throughout the entire ride.
This ride also features real consequences for Mr. Toad and not the common happily ever after in other Disney rides. Instead, Toad is arrested, sent to jail, breaks out, gets hit by a train and goes to hell. Good old fashion family fun.
In all honesty, its a really fun ride and a great look at what early Disneyland dark rides looked like before Disney had perfected the art form.
