Update 3: More closures have now been announced, including the Fountain of Nations on September 8th, the Electric Umbrella in early winter, the camera shop, Innoventions East, Pin Central, Heritage Manor in the American Adventure, and Art of Disney all closing September 8th.
Update 2: Disney has now also clarified that Club Cool will return as part of future Epcot offerings through a Tweet viewable here.
Update 1: Disney has now specified where several of the meet and greets will be relocated to. Daisy will be moved to the American Pavilion, Mickey and Goofy will temporarily move to Innoventions West and eventually into the Imagination Pavilion, Joy will move somewhere unspecified, Minnie will move to the World Showcase Gazebo, and the Baymax meet and greet will be discontinued.
Cast Members have now been notified that everything in the former western Comunicore building will be closing in early September. No formal announcement has been made, but it is expected that the demolition of these buildings will begin almost immediately afterward.
This will lead to the closure of Innoventions West, the Epcot Character Spot, including the meet and greets for Mickey and Friends, Inside Out characters and Baymax, the Epcot Starbuck, and Club Cool, which all reside in the building.
Some of these attractions will find new homes throughout the park. I doubt the park will be without Mickey Mouse for very long. A Starbucks location has likely already been built in the upcoming Epcot Experience Center.
As for the rest, Innoventions will be a permanent loss for the park. Club Cool will also likely not return in any form, so get your free Beverly in now while you still can.
Epcot's Future World will now lose its symmetry as the park will only have one half of the original Comunicore.
No word on what will replace the massive building, with rumors ranging from beer gardens, to interactive fountains, to permanent festival centers, to permanent meet and greet buildings. Be warned this construction is likely to disrupt your access to the Seas, Land, and Imagination Pavilions for the next several years, as the main pathway to them will be blocked by massive amounts of construction.
