Meet and Greet Reshuffling Coming to Epcot This September

Joy Epcot Meet and Greet Inside Out

Earlier today we found out the exact closure dates for much of the former western Communicore building. We have now found out more about what this means for the Epcot Character Spot and the meet and greets housed there.

Disney posted this announcement to the My Disney Experience app.

Epcot Character Changes Announcement September 2019

Let us analyze this new information.

So, Minnie will replace Daisy at her current location, while Daisy gets a significantly less prominent spot in the American Adventure. Lets hop Daisy at least gets a new outfit for the move.

Mickey and Goofy will temporarily meet in Innoventions West, but the more significant bit of information is that they will permanently move into Imagination. It is unclear if they will replace the current Wreck-It Ralph meet and greet, but more than likely they will replace more of Image Works. Also the way this is worded it seems Goofy may not make the move with Mickey into the Imagination Pavilion.

Disney's Play Pavilion Epcot Concept Art

Joy will apparently move somewhere new, likely the Play Pavilion as she is seen in this piece of concept art although a location was not specified. Sadness, however, was not mentioned and will likely not continue meeting guests after the closure of her current meet and greet.

Also, likely disappearing as a result of these changes is Baymax, who is not mentioned in this announcement.

But, there was a silver lining to all of this. Christopher Robin's Bedroom will be reopening with a Winnie the Pooh meet and greet. For anyone who does not know, this was a long term meet and greet location for Winnie the Pooh characters at the park. It is themed as the bedroom of the character Christopher Robin and the Pooh characters would visit guests in it. This is definitely a welcome addition to a park likely losing two popular characters on the same day.

Be sure you visit Baymax and Sadness while you still can.
