Marvel Phase 4 Announced at San Diego Comic-Con

Today at San Diego Comic-Con we finally got information on what will be coming next for the MCU now that the Infinity Saga (complete with its own logo) is now complete. Here is the list of all the films and Disney+ shows that were announced tonight along with their respective release dates. There will be three projects released in 2020 and a shocking 7 released in 2021. This is not all of phase 4, as the rest will likely be announced later this year at D23 or at some undetermined future date. Here they all are below in order of release, separated into two categories, films, and Disney+. This list will continue to be updated throughout the panel as more films and Disney+ shows are announced.

Films

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (February 12, 2021)

This will bring the first Marvel film centered around an Asian protagonist. It will be directed by Dustin Cretton and Tony Leung will be playing The Mandarin. Awkwafina is also in the cast for this film. Finally, Simu Liu plays the title role.

Black Widow (May 1, 2020)

It's only fitting that the first female superhero in the MCU finally gets her own solo movie. It will be a prequel in which we learn about the characters checkered past. It seems interesting for one of the first phase 4 movies to be about a character who died, but I guess we shall see.

Eternals (November 6, 2020)

We've known about this one for a while but we now have an idea as to what will officially kick off the next phase into the cosmic realm. Things definitely seem to be more on the cosmic end for this phase based on this and future entries to this list. It will be directed by Chloe Zhao and Richard Madden will be playing Ikaris in this film. Other cast members include Don Lee, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and more.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 7, 2021)

Doctor Strange will finally be getting his second full outing in the MCU, and will likely be opening up a whole new can of worms for the MCU to unravel. It appears we will finally be getting the multiverse introduced to the series after the SPOILER ALERT fake-out in the most recent Spiderman. It will somehow involve the Scarlet Witch character.

Thor Love and Thunder (November 5, 2021)

Thor 4 confirmed. This will apparently feature Natalie Portman's character Jane Foster taking up the mantel of Thor similar to a recent comic storyline. Who knows how this will work with Thor classic still an active part of the MCU. As part of this section of this presentation, Valkyrie was also confirmed as LGBTQ+.

Disney+ Shows

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Fall 2020)

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Disney+ Logo

This is the first surprise of the night as not much was known about this project. It will likely deal with the aftermath of the retirement of Captain America following Avengers: Endgame, especially considering the inclusion of Caps shield in the newly released logo for this Disney+ limited series.

WandaVision (Spring 2021)

WandaVision Logo Marvel Disney+ Series

We got confirmation on this long-rumored project for the Disney+ streaming service featuring both Wanda and Vision. How this will work considering Vision is dead is unknown at this time.

Loki (Spring 2021)

Loki Disney+ TV Series Logo Marvel

Marvel fans rejoice Loki will be returning to the MCU in a 2021 Disney+ series. It will somehow follow the character in the aftermath of Endgame, according to fan theories by following the alternate Loki created by time travel in Endgame.

What If...? (Summer 2021)

What If...? Logo Disney+ Original Marvel Series

So this one we did not see coming. It is one of the later announcements in the timeline so it is likely earlier in development, but it should still be an interesting addition to the MCU. Jeffery Wright will narrate as The Watcher in this series. It also includes pretty much every Marvel actor still with the studio.

Hawkeye (Fall 2021)

This series was also highly rumored but we now have confirmation that one of the two original Avengers without a solo outing will finally get one on the Disney+ streaming service. It will also focus on introducing the Kate Bishop character.

And the last announcement that came completely out of left field.

Blade (?)

This was announced at the very end of the panel. This was kept entirely under wraps as there had been really no significant rumors about this. Mahershala Ali will apparently star as Blade in this shocking development. There wasn't even a release date.

Noticeable absences (although they were mentioned) were Black Panther, the Fox Marvel properties, any Avengers film, and Captain Marvel, which will likely be announced as part of D23.

So are you ready for phase 4? What movie are you looking the most forward to? Let us know in the comments.
