Weekly Disney Rumor Update 7/5/19

Spaceship Earth Tiles

So much happened this week, so let's jump right into it.

Walt Disney World

Tomorrowland Merchant of Venus Magic Kingdom

Innoventions Neon Sign Epcot

Closings, Closings, and More Closings

Practically half of Future World will be closing by the end of 2019. For a complete guide to all the closings (and there's A LOT of them) check out This Guide. Significant closings include Innoventions, Club Cool, The Electric Umbrella, and The Fountain of Nations.

Meet and Greet Reshuffling

As a result of the closings happening throughout the park, characters will be moving from the Character Spot to various new locations throughout the park starting September 8th.

Christopher Robin Returns

As a part of the character changes coming to the park, the Christopher Robin room meet and greet is returning in early September. This is a meet and greet with Winnie the Pooh (and, historically, friends) in the UK pavilion, in one of the best uses of IP in Epcot to date.

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Rock N Roller Coaster Disney's Hollywood Studios

Rock N Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

It is appearing more likely that this ride will not last much longer, with a replacement being announced possibly as soon as D23. We don't know what it will be, but we do know it won't be cars based on insider sources.

New Dark Ride

Despite going through a renovation this summer, the Little Mermaid show is apparently still the location for a new flexible dark ride coming to the park.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Table Service

Despite being canceled from the original plans, according to (somewhat) reliable insider Jim Hill, the table service restaurant is back in the plans after the resounding success of the Cantina, which has become one of the hardest spots to get into in Galaxy's Edge. No timetable has been announced, but this is likely to be a part of any phase two plans for the land yet to be announced. It would likely be announced for both lands at the same time.

Rise of the Resistance Delayed (Again)?

So we already know this ride, the second ride and apparent E-Ticket of Galaxy's Edge was delayed. But the question has been when it would open. The standing unconfirmed rumor was it would open or preview around D23 similar to how the updated Fantasmic! did for the last D23. But now it appears Disney may have found another problem that could put the ride in a worse off position. If true, the ride might not even open in 2019.
