Toy Story Midway Mania
Paradise Pier opened with one E-ticket rollercoaster, California Screamin and several off the shelf rides. Like the many other sections of Disney California Adventure, it was criticized for a complete lack of Disney characters,
This would be changed with the first-ever expansion of the land. Toy Story Midway Mania. The ride replaced a few midway games and food locations and added much-needed characters and original ride styles at a park that desperately needed both.
The ride is also the only one in the land to remain completely unchanged during the transition from Paradise Pier to Pixar Pier. The building got a repaint but the ride remained completely unchanged. Of all the attractions in this land, the only other in this land that the same can be said for is Bullseye's Stallion Stampede at the Games of Pixar Pier.
The ride is a 3-D shooting game where you play in scenes based on Toy Storys 1-3. You shoot everything from darts to rings as you play Toy Story versions of classic midway games.
Recently it also had Fastpass added to it and even more recently the ride has begun testing a special line for groups of 1 to 3 to help cut down on empty seats.
Along with Pixar Pier the ride also got a meet and greet added onto it and the park made it easier to look at the Mr. Potato Head animatronic from outside the ride.
This ride is now a part of a larger Toy Story mini area that will soon feature a Jessie themed carousel featuring the prizes from Midway Mania as ride vehicles.
