Marvel Lands in the Disney Parks

Marvel Lands in the Disney Parks

Disney has recently announced a ton of Marvel projects in their parks. This is the first time the characters have been used in Disney parks, but there are a few problems.

They Can't Use the Name Marvel

Due to a deal with Universal made before Disney purchased Marvel, the name Marvel is off the table for any rides or lands in a theme park.

No Marvel Land In Disney World

Due to the same deal, there cannot be a Marvel land of any kind at Disney World. This is why the only Marvel coming to Disney World is a Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster. Disney is barred from using all of the Avengers, X-Men and their relative side characters east of the Mississippi.

What Is Coming?

Three Marvel Lands have been announced to date. One in California Adventure, one in Walt Disney Studios in Paris and one in Hong Kong Disneyland. They will not be the same land as with Star Wars Land.

Two of them, Hong Kong Disneyland and California Adventure will feature an Avengers ride.

Other than that all of the rides will only be in one of the Marvel lands.

This land has begun with the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout. Also included will be an Avengers ride and a Spiderman ride. It will replace Bugs Land at California Adventure.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Marvel land here will have three rides. One has already opened, The Iron Man Experience, a Marvel version of Star Tours. The next ride will be an Ant-Man shooter that is a retheme of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. The final ride is a currently unnamed Avengers ride.

Walt Disney Studios

This will be the Marvel land in Disneyland Paris. It is part of a much larger expansion of the park which will include multiple new lands. It will include a stunt show and an Iron Man retheme of Rock n Roller Coaster. It will not include Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout despite being right next to a Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
